Greedy reclamation of unused bandwidth in constant-bandwidth servers

چکیده
A framework for scheduling a number of di erent applications on a single shared preemptable processor is proposed, such that each application seems to be executing on a slower dedicated processor. A tradeo is identi ed and evaluated between how precise a notion of real time (as measured by the granularity of its clock) an application needs supported on the one hand, and the added context-switch costs imposed by our scheduling framework on the other.

Improve Replica Placement in Content Distribution Networks with Hybrid Technique
The increased using of the Internet and its accelerated growth leads to reduced network bandwidth and the capacity of servers; therefore, the quality of Internet services is unacceptable for users while the efficient and effective delivery of content on the web has an important role to play in improving performance. Content distribution networks were introduced to address this issue. Replicatin...
متن کاملEnergy Saving Scheduling for Embedded Real-Time Linux Applications
The problem of reducing energy consumption is becoming very important in the design of embedded real-time systems. Many of these systems, in fact, are powered by rechargeable batteries, and the goal is to extend, as much as it is possible, the autonomy of the system. To reduce energy consumption, one possible approach is to selectively slow down the processor frequency. In this paper we propose...
متن کاملOn the bandwidth of Mobius graphs
Bandwidth labelling is a well known research area in graph theory. We provide a new proof that the bandwidth of Mobius ladder is 4, if it is not a $K_{4}$, and investigate the bandwidth of a wider class of Mobius graphs of even strips.
متن کاملDetermination of optimal bandwidth in upscaling process of reservoir data using kernel function bandwidth
Upscaling based on the bandwidth of the kernel function is a flexible approach to upscale the data because the cells will be coarse-based on variability. The intensity of the coarsening of cells in this method can be controlled with bandwidth. In a smooth variability region, a large number of cells will be merged, and vice versa, they will remain fine with severe variability. Bandwidth variatio...
